先日書いた Dreamhost.com からの謎請求メールは、当然のごとく誤処理であったようで以下メールが到着。

Ack. Through a COMPLETE bumbling on our part, we've accidentally attempted
to charge you for the ENTIRE year of 2008 (and probably 2009!) ALREADY
(it was all due to a fat finger)!

We're really really realllly embarassed about this, but you have nothing
to worry about. Please ignore any confusing billing messages you may have
received recently; we've already removed all those bum future charges on
your account (#******) and already refunded the $119.4 charge on your
credit card.

You should get the money back on almost immediately, within a day or
two max, and there's no need to contact your credit card company or bank
for the refund.

Thank you very very much for your patience with this.. we PROMISE
this won't happen again. There's no need to reply to this message unless
of course you have any other questions at all!

って、今頃何故来年分の請求案内が・・・？
もう１つDreamhost.comにアカウントを持っているのだけど、そっちにも

と、やはり未来からメールがきてるよ。^_^;

なんだか、Dreamhost.com の課金システムに大規模なトラブルが発生している様子。
カードに誤請求がチャージされなければ良いのですが・・・

DreamHost Blog によると、最大$97引き可能な Promo Codes の提供は December 11th で終わり、以降は最大$50引きとなるとの事。

$97 値引きあってこその”激安ホステイングサービス”だったと思う訳で、今回の対応は残念です。

と、DreamHost.com 自身も煽っていますので、売上げを上げる為の作戦という気もしないでもないですがね。

DreamHost.comが再びディスカウント中。サイト掲載クーポン利用で１年契約$119.40が$110.10引きの$9.30になんて事に！まあ、２年目以降は定価販売な訳だけどね。

Dreamhost leaks 3,500 FTP passwordsだって。具体的な状況の公式発表は今のところ無く詳細状況不明。

ディスカッションフォーラムでも、この件は話題に上がっているのですが、Dreamhost の公式見解は「現在作業中、公式発表まで少しまってね。」って事で、詳しい状況が判るまで今しばらくの時間が必要となりそうです。

DreamHost.comが、「DreamHost now hosts 500,000 unique domain names! 」を記念して特別クーポンコードを発行しています。

値引額は $50 と、色々な所で掲示されているクーポンコードに比べると弱いのだけど、提示されている契約条件が凄いと言うか無茶苦茶です。

新規ユーザー先着２５０名限定との事。

昨晩のつながりにくさは外部からの攻撃が原因だった様子。

Connections Problems to the LAX Datacenter

We are currently experiencing severe packet loss between the Garland building and our LAX datacenter. This is affecting most dedicated server customers as well as all customers in the “frisky” cluster. This includes the following web servers:

belair, boxster, bugatti, cadillac, camaro, carrera, cayman, chevelle, corvette, edsel, ferrari, gremlin, hornet, hudson, impala, manmeat, pacer, pinto, skoda, stingray, studebaker, touareg

We are investigating the cause now and will update you with more information as soon as it’s available.

It appears this was the result of a massive Denial of Service attack on a customer in the LAX datacenter. The attack has been thwarted and everything is running normally again.

4/19 22:30 頃よりWebサーバーの反応が極端に悪くなっています。極端に負荷がかかって、反応が劇遅になっている感じ。

480MBなisoイメージをアップロード＆ダウンロードしてどれぐらいの速度が出るのか実験。で、その結果は・・・

ftpダウンロード 45〜50KB/s　　アップロード 350〜400KB/s　
Web ダウンロード 45〜50KB/s

なんて感じ。ftpアップロードは良い感じでスピードが出ているのだけど、ダウンロードは帯域をかなり制限しているのか、ftpもwebも期待したほど速度が出ず。WebDAVでも上記ファイルをアップロードしてみたのだけど、途中で接続が切れたり、エラーになったりでアップロードは完了出来ず。

各種データ置き場にとDreamHost.comで、Crazy Domain Insane! プランを契約。

利用料は、1年契約・月額9.95ドル 2年契約・月額7.95ドルと標準レベルなレンタルサーバーサービスなんだけど、利用可能ディスク容量が 162.4 GB、月間転送量制限 1.624 TBとほぼ無制限状態（その上、ディスク容量と月間転送量制限は毎週増加するとか）。

で、ネットに落ちているクーポンコードを使うと最大97ドルディスカウントって事で、初年度22.4ドルで契約出来ました。

この価格なので速度・安定性は望めないだろうけど・・・WebDAV が使えるので、デジカメ画像データー保管倉庫（オンラインストレージ）として使うには十二分と予想。我が家ではデジカメ画像は、HDD(RAID1)とDVD-Rの２つの媒体に保管しているのだけど、念には念を入れて DreamHost をオンラインストレージとしてデータバックアップに使おうと考えているのです。

ネットの上では安定していないと言う話も流れているのですが、さてどんなものでしょう
